Bullies hid his suit, but that wasn’t an excuse

“Forgetting is not an excuse. You will still participate.”

Bashfully shy, even at 18

He tried to tell himself it was just like sneaking down to the creek near his house to go skinny dipping. He does that all the time. It’s no big deal. Hell, it’s actually kinda fun and feels good, too.

But this was not fun. And he was feeling sick to his stomach. He could hear the girls in their modest one-piece racing suits behind him laughing. And it was a big deal. Were they staring at his bare ass? Were they laughing at his shriveled dick? It was only because he’d already swum one heat in the cold water!

“Focus,” he silently told himself. “Just stretch out, swim your last heat, get a good time, and maybe coach will let you go back into the locker room.”

But coach made him stay . . . until the nervous butterflies of embarrassment in his stomach took over, and he barfed all over himself.

It was disgusting. He slipped and his butt plopped in the mess he’d just made. He felt terrible. Everyone was staring. Some looked concerned, but most of them were laughing. And then the coach said the words that would be repeated back to him almost everyday for the rest of his four years in college.

“Go hit the showers and WASH THAT SICK OFF YOUR DICK!”
